Originally from New Jersey, Katherine graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2023 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Economics of Biotechnology. Currently, as a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering, Katherine’s work aims to improve human health in spaceflight by researching countermeasures to improve wound healing in skin and collaborating with Dr. Jennifer Hurley to understand the role of circadian disruption on wound healing. Further, Katherine has fostered a collaboration with a pharmaceutical company to engineer solutions to improve drug stability, delivery, and packaging for spaceflight applications. On campus, Katherine is involved in several organizations including the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Rensselyrics A Cappella, and the Phalanx Leadership Honor Society. Outside of the lab and campus life, Katherine enjoys exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, reading, and recently, has gotten into outdoor activities like skiing and hiking.
