Ananya Dhale is a Ph.D. student in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, working in the laboratories of Hurley and Dordick. She received her B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biosciences and Bioengineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where her research and design work spanned microbiology, biosensors, and large-scale process design. Prior to graduate school, she worked at Clarity Biosystems, where she developed a genome-scale metabolic model of Gallus gallus to optimize bioprocesses for cultivated meat production. Her current research investigates the role of peripheral inflammation in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias using neuroorganoid models. Outside the lab, Ananya can usually be found planning her next trip, getting lost in a good book, swimming laps, creating abstract digital artwork, or searching for the next skincare product worthy of becoming a staple.
